Security should not be a luxury.
Oriel started from a simple belief: checking on your home should feel calm, understandable, and within reach. It should not feel like buying enterprise surveillance software just to see whether everything is okay.
That belief shaped Oriel from day one.
That is why Oriel turns a spare iPhone into a home camera with live view, motion alerts, and event playback included from the start. The free version is meant to be useful on its own, not a narrow demo.
When we add paid features, they have to add more. They cannot take away what people already rely on.
The Oriel Promise
These core features are part of the free experience:
- Unlimited live streaming
- Motion detection and push alerts
- Event playback
- Unlimited camera connections
The app will keep changing, but the rule is simple: we add things, we do not take them away.
Why We Built It This Way
Live viewing uses peer-to-peer streaming when your devices can connect directly. Oriel helps the devices find each other, then the video travels between them instead of becoming something we can watch or browse.
Detection is designed to stay on the camera device whenever possible. Motion and AI features should help you notice what matters without turning your home into data for someone else to inspect.
Oriel is built by an independent developer. No investors, no data-selling business model, and no pressure to make the free experience worse so the paid one looks better.
